Art is capturing what you see and interpreting it on to paper. Students will learn to translate these visuals into wonderful drawings as they learn pencil technics and shading skills. Simple drawings will be done, paying attention to spacing, shapes, and lighting, making drawings come alive. Drawing a variety of subject matter will demonstrate the common thread to capturing the likeness of what they see, using still-life, nature, landscapes, flowers, people, and animals. If you can use a pencil, you can draw!

1. Still life
Understanding geometric shapes and shading go hand in hand. Recognizing surface change, darks and light, and cores will bring realism into each drawing regardless of the subject.

2. Nature
Flowers, leaves and rock all have different characteristics. Shading can define shape and texture differences and their beauty.

3. Landscapes Trees and rolling hillsides make wonderful drawing. To capture it‛s essence, pencils are used to show both solid and wispy surfaces.

4. Animals Learning to draw our furry friends will be fun, with examples using tigers, monkeys, and dogs.
5. People Drawing people allows a sketch to show realism. The hands, eyes, and face can present dramatic shadows as well as emotional expression

6. Transportation Pencil sketches can also capture the shine of objects. Car sketches are fun to create as well as learning to render them.
7. Top Choice This is an opportunity to explore their favorite subject matter. Choosing between nature, landscape, animal, people, and transportation, student may create more.
